Care instructions

Taking care of your hair is the key to keeping your hairstyle fresh and vibrant. That’s why at Rapunzel, we’ve developed a unique range of care products specially designed for extended hair. We also offer tips for how to take care of your hair and extensions, all so that you can enjoy your hair for as long as possible.

Rapunzel Daily Hair Care

A genuine hair piece is a work of handicraft with unique traits. These characteristics make it look and feel just like your natural hair -- and just like all of us, it can use some love and care. Here are some tips on how you can easily take care of your hair and keep it looking nicer longer.

Heat styling protection

Hair extensions are fun and give you lots of options to get the length, color effects and volume you want. They can also be cut and styled to suit your look. If you will be heat styling, it is best to use heat protection products beforehand.

Moisture and nutrition - from A to Z

To give your hair the best chance of staying in good shape for as long as possible, we recommended hair care products with a lot of moisture and nutrients. Rapunzel's hair care line contains ingredients that provide just that, and it also smells absolutely wonderful!

Tips for a real moisture boost! Use a hair mask at least once a week, and always finish off with conditioner.

Nourishing color mask

If you will be coloring your hair peice, we recommend our nourishing color mask. If you use other color treatments or bleach with products that we have not personally tested, you do so at your own risk and we cannot take responsibility.

Braids for sleep and exercise

Keep your hair in braids while you sleep and exercise. This will help make sure your hair won't tangle -- and you'll also get nice waves by morning. Win-win!

Brush your hair often

Rapunzel brushes are designed for hair extensions and make brushing easy. It may be helpful to brush about twice a day. Take this time to straighten out your fasteners with your fingers. You'll avoid tangles and your hair will stay nice and shiny. When you brush your hair, start at the ends and work your way up in sections to avoid wear and make hair easier to untangle.

Brush and sleep with dry hair

Because damp hair is more sensitive than dry hair, brush through it before showering, then comb through your wet hair gently with your fingers and let it dry before brushing it again. Sleeping with wet hair is a big no-no. This will wear out both hair and hair extensions, so avoid it.

Clip out for bed, gym and shower
Your Clip-on is ideal for all occasions. When you go to bed, to work out, or shower, just click it out by bending the clip.

Things to think about

Before using Rapunzel's hair extensions, there are a few things to keep in mind. Here's the most important thing:

  • Suddenly you have long, thick hair! Be prepared for hair that requires at least three times more care than your natural hair, and we're sad to say it but ... it won’t last forever.

  • Before attaching your hair, it's important to wash your hair with a deep cleansing shampoo (never use conditioner before attaching). Then dry the hair completely. It must not be damp when attaching the extensions. After attaching your extensions, it's good to give your hair a 48 hour rest before washing. Your attachments need time to cure and this will also reduce the risk of attachments sliding out.

  • Because some people may be allergic to certain products, it’s important to test out some products like tape and color masks on a small skin area before using them. If you are taking certain medications, you should also consult a doctor before using hair extensions.

  • When removing your extensions, it is important to follow the entire removal procedure so that your own hair will not be damaged, and sometimes this may take time. Never use force such as tearing or cutting out the hair.

  • Always follow our recommendations for products, care, attachment and removal.

Weekly check

Once a week it is important to give your new hair some extra care. We call it the Weekly Check and it's as easy as 1-2-3. It can be done easily by yourself, with a friend, your hairdresser or at one of our salons. The result is hair that stays beautiful and in great shape. It also minimizes the risk that any attachments or knots will create unnecessary wear on your natural hair. That's what we call a win-win!

It's  easy:

  1. Go over your entire head, straightening any attachment and detangling any knots that may have appeared on the scalp. Use your fingers or a small detangling brush (careful!). Take out and replace attachments that have slipped or grown out, or that appear to need refreshing. Always use the recommended remover/removal accessories to avoid damage to your natural hair.
  2. Then brush out your hair. Start at the tips and work your way up with a detangling brush.
  3. Wash your hair with Rapunzel's hair care series, use a hair mask on the tips and allow it to work for at least 7 minutes. Rinse and finish with conditioner.
  4. Let the hair dry. When the hair is completely dry, use the detangling brush to brush it out. Then apply heat protection to the hair, use a flat iron and comb to straighten all the hair.
  5. After straightening, you can now style it as you wish!
