Both your own hair and your extensions need love to stay healthy, soft and beautiful. Here you’ll find instructions on how to best care for your extensions, as well as 5 extra tips for guaranteed healthy and beautiful hair!

Ready-to-wear extensions

Washing

For a long life, wash temporary extensions only when necessary. Use Rapunzel of Sweden’s shampoo, conditioner and hair mask, which is adapted for extensions.

Detangle the hair with the Extension Brush before washing. Start with the ends and work your way up.
Rinse the hair with lukewarm water and then apply shampoo from root to tip. Avoiding rubbing. Rinse thoroughly and repeat with shampoo a second time.
Towel dry the hair with Rapunzel’s Turban Hair Towel and then apply the hair mask. Leave on for at least 10 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.
Apply conditioner to the lengths and rinse thoroughly.
Allow the hair to dry naturally, preferably on a Hair Hanger.
Detangle the hair when dry.

Please keep in mind:

Always remove your temporary extensions before sleeping, exercising or bathing.
Store temporary extensions in a dry, dark place, preferably hung on a Hair Hanger. Detangle hair before storage.
Always use heat protection when styling with heating tools and style at maximum 180°C. Temporary extensions can be styled before insertion.
DO NOT use hair colour, colour bomb, toning, tinting, colour mask, henna, silver shampoo, bleach or similar on temporary extensions.
Avoid contact with sunscreen and similar products that may discolour the hair. Protect the hair from the sun.
Hair extensions are not recommended when taking certain medications and during certain diseases. Consult your doctor if you are not sure. Find out about any allergies before using extensions.

Permanent extensions

Washing

Wash your hair with Rapunzel of Sweden’s shampoo, conditioner and hair mask, which is adapted for extensions.

Detangle the hair with the Extension Brush before washing. Start with the ends and work your way up.
Rinse the hair with lukewarm water and then apply shampoo from root to tip. Avoiding rubbing. Rinse thoroughly and shampoo again.
Towel dry your hair with Rapunzel’s Turban Hair Towel and then apply hair mask to the lengths, avoiding the attachments. Leave in for at least 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Apply conditioner to the lengths, avoiding the attachments and scalp. Rinse thoroughly.
Let the hair dry naturally or blow dry on low heat with heat protection.
Detangle the hair when dry.

Please keep in mind:

Do not mix Premium and Basic hair as they have different durability and longevity.
Detangle the hair at least twice a day with the Extension Brush. Make sure the attachments and hair are not tangled close to the scalp.
Always sleep with dry hair. Braid your hair and sleep on Rapunzel’s Bamboo Pillow Case to reduce hair damage.
Always work out and do sports with braided hair.
Always use heat protection when styling with heating tools and style at maximum 180°C.
DO NOT use hair colour, colour bomb, toning, tinting, colour mask, henna, silver shampoo, bleach or similar on Tape-on Extensions. Ask your Rapunzel hairdresser for help when dyeing extensions.
Protect the hair from the sun and avoid dipping it in the sea and chlorinated water.
Avoid contact with sunscreen and similar products that may discolour the hair.

1. Use the right hair care products

The right hair care is key to healthy, beautiful hair! If you wear extensions, hair care becomes even more important for the longevity of your extensions. 2. Use a hair mask

3. Protect your hair from heat

4. Don’t sleep with wet hair

Wet or damp hair is more sensitive than dry hair. Sleeping with wet hair causes more damage to the hair. This is particularly important if you wear extensions, since moisture can have a negative effect on the attachments. Dry your hair with the Bamboo Turban Hair Towel and sleep on the Bamboo Pillow Case. Bamboo is soft and gentle on your hair, and absorbs up to 3–4 times more than cotton.

5. Update your hair wardrobe
