Rapunzel wax vs. Keratin

Rapunzel wax vs. Keratin

Keratin is the key structural material making up the outer layer of human skin. It is also the key structural component of hair, nails and horn of animals. All real human hair consists in some parts of the protein keratin, and so does the hair in your real human hair extensions. Keratin is also a common ingredient in wax, such as the wax nail attachments. Rapunzel use, and have produced, a synthetic wax- not a keratin wax, here we´ll explain the difference between them.

Keratin is a family of fibrous structural proteins. Keratin is the key structural material making up the outer layer of human skin. It is also the key structural component of hair, nails and horn of animals. All real human hair consists in some parts of the protein keratin, and so does the hair in your real human hair extensions.
Keratin is also a common ingredient in wax, such as the wax nail attachments which you use in combination with heat to melt when attaching for instance nail hair extensions. Keratin in wax is in its natural form really hard and in general produced in animal products such as horn. The amount keratin in wax attachments is in general low.
Rapunzel has chosen not to use keratin wax. Instead we use, and have produced, a synthetic wax that contains an artificial material composed of nourishing oils.  This wax is specially developed by our technicians to get the quality that we strive for. The wax is also made to be effective and gentle to attach and remove with remover and pliers. Rapunzel’s wax doesn’t contain any animal products.
